Expert Talk with Laura Camacho / Artistic Transformation Facilitor, curator, festival programmer and researcher.
Laura Camacho Salgado, a Colombian currently based in Oslo, leads as the Head of the International Program at the festival Oslo World. Co-creator of innovative initiatives like Map the World and the Utopian Manifesto, Laura has curated the festival's interdisciplinary program, championing cultural institutions and artists in the fight for freedom of expression and gender equality.
An independent researcher with a background in literature, arts, and cinema, Laura's academic journey spans universities across Colombia, the UK, France, and Italy. Her research explores transnational representations of migrant bodies in cultural narratives across borders. She has been part of transformative projects like Keychange, empowering voices in the music industry. And recently Laura has joined the Cultural Transformation Project with the aim of shifting the cultural organisation’s landscapes and increasing the presence of underrepresented communities across the Arts (both on and off stage).
In this talk, together we will navigate discussions on accessing closed cultural sectors, the challenges faced as a migrant in establishing new networks, the importance of decolonization in global cultural landscapes, the complexities of introducing diverse perspectives to Europe's cultural fortress and to shake the status quo.
